Keycafe Offers Key Exchange Services in Rome
Keycafe is happy to be offering our key exchange and property access management services in Italy’s capital city, Rome. We’ve installed a distributed network of public SmartBoxes around the city and its neighbourhoods in order to allow Keycafe users living in and visiting Rome to take advantage of our property access management and key exchange services. Thanks to great partners like Lock & Stock Storage and Binario Zero Caffè, Roman residents and visitors to Italy’s capital city can now easily exchange keys and manage access to their properties from their mobile phone using Keycafe.
Rome is the capital of Italy with a population of just under three million people, making it the fourth most populated city in the European Union by population within city limits. The metropolitan city of Rome has more than 4.3 million residents, and is the only city which has a country (The Vatican City) within it. While we don’t have a SmartBox location within the Vatican City just yet, we have one just outside the border at Mastro Pistacchio, located at 28 Via Aurelia. With almost 10 million tourists having visited metropolitan Rome last year, the city’s Airbnb and short-term rental space has grown significantly over the past few years.
Italy’s sharing economy sector has been growing rapidly with a variety of inventive startups like ProntoPro for odd jobs and gigs, Easyfeel for cleaning services, and PrestoFood for food deliveries. While certain apps like Uber have some restrictions in the Italian cities of Rome and Milan, Italian sharing economy startups are amongst some of the most unique projects in the world. Mathesia enables collaboration on applied mathematics projects, Ablio connects translators and those in need of a translator, and Antlos allows anyone to easily book a boat or yacht thanks to the help of local skippers.
It’s no surprise that Italy’s impressive sharing economy and Rome’s burgeoning tourist industry have ensured the popularity of home-sharing services like Airbnb, Booking.com, and HomeAway, however there hasn’t been a secure and convenient way to exchange keys and manage access to property in Rome. With Keycafe, home-owners can register their keys and give anyone access to them through their email or mobile phone number. Whether you need to manage the keys of a single Airbnb or manage property access for a variety of homes around the city, Keycafe makes key exchange easy.
A new feature we’ve introduced is photo ID verification and live photo check-in to make sure you’re in compliance with Italian regulations when hosting foreign guests in your home. Using photo ID verification, you can require people you give access to upload a passport or government ID before they can pick up your keys. If you choose, you can also enable live photo check-in to require guests picking up your keys to take a selfie that is matched and verified with their previously uploaded ID.
