When it comes to once in a lifetime opportunities, few compare with a private night in Paris’ most renowned art museum, the Louvre. Airbnb has partnered with the Musée du Louvre to offer the ultimate art-lover’s stay in the French capital, running a competition which gives anyone 800 words to explain why they would be Mona Lisa’s perfect guest. The competition is thanks to a partnership between Airbnb and the French museum, which will also see exclusive Airbnb experiences offered at the Louvre, like tours of the museum behind closed doors starting in September, and a series of intimate Airbnb concerts at the Louvre’s Cafe Richelieu starting in May.
While you can’t yet sign up for those Airbnb concerts and experiences at the Louvre, the current competition is accepting entries until April 12th, and offers what looks to be a truly unforgettable evening of private events surrounded by some of the finest artwork around. As outlined on their page for the competition, if you’re chosen as the winner you and a guest will be flown out to Paris on April 29th to spend three nights in arranged Airbnb accommodation, one of which (April 30th) will be under the famous glass pyramid of the Louvre.
The winner and their guest will also be provided with an after hours tour of the Louvre museum, drinks with the Mona Lisa in a lavish living room nestled in the Louvre, dinner prepared by a personal chef in the presence of the Venus of Milo, and an intimate acoustic concert in Napoleon III’s luxurious flats. If all this wasn’t enough, after sleeping under the glass pyramid you’ll also be brought a Parisian breakfast in bed to start the next day.
In their terms of the contest, Airbnb explains the criteria for selecting a winner based on the 800 word submissions people are sending in, specifying that the best story writer will be chosen entirely on merit, and that this is not a contest of luck or chance. The entries are judged 50% on the creativity of the submission, 30% on the originality of the submission (does the submission offer a surprising or unique perspective?), and 20% on how well they responded to the contest’s question: why would you be the Mona Lisa’s perfect guest? Winners will be selected and emailed on April 19th, and will have one day to confirm their acceptance of the prize, so if you enter make sure to keep up with your email inbox!
