Keycafe’s SmartBox Locations Expand Across Madrid
Keycafe continues to add automated lock box locations across the city of Madrid, providing more places in Spain to exchange keys. Our public network of key lock boxes we call “SmartBoxes” allows anyone to easily manage property access for sharing economy services. With locations in the cities of Barcelona and Madrid, we’re excited to continue expanding our property access services across Spain.
About the Spanish Capital
The capital of Spain, Madrid is the largest municipality in the country with about six and a half million residents in the metropolitan area. With the third-largest GDP in the European Union, Madrid stands as a cultural and economic powerhouse for Spain and Europe, while also being home to the residence of the Spanish monarch. More than just modern infrastructure, Madrid is home to some of the world’s finest art and sport, with magnificent museums like the Prado Museum and the Reina Sofia Museum, while also housing two of the most successful football teams in Europe, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid.
A Hotbed For Sharing Economy Startups
The city of Madrid has been a hotbed for sharing economy startups, which have been known to quickly expand into UK and other global markets. Spanish and Madrid-based sharing economy services have continued to find success. Clintu, Wayhook, and Multihelpers help you clean your home on-demand. Pasea Perros and Gudog help by walking your dog when you can’t, Madrid-based ridesharing startup Cabify has been dubbed the Spanish Uber, and Spotahome, which provides medium and long-term rentals, continues to expand rapidly.
The Missing Link
The missing link for many sharing economy applications is access to your home. Using an on-demand cleaning or dog walking service means that it could be someone new coming to your house each day. For short-term rental hosts using Airbnb and Booking.com, it can be challenging for hosts away at work or on holiday out of the city. Keycafe enables you to easily share access with an app on your phone using your existing keys that are stored at a Keycafe point that’s located inside a friendly, warm, and safe local business. To have greater transparency into who you are sharing your keys with, Keycafe has an optional feature that allows key-owners to request ID verification from their guests.
