Keycafe Expands Partnership with 7-Eleven to Enhance Community Engagement 24/7

7-Eleven and Keycafe are both committed to adding value and convenience to the local communities that surround every SmartBox location. Together, our ongoing partnership helps provide safe and clean locations for local community residents to share keys with the Keycafe app. With the growth of the sharing economy, residents in major cities are using more and more on-demand services such as dog walking, home cleaning, food delivery and vacation rentals. Access to a home or property through secure and easy key exchange is the missing link for a person to be fully able to take advantage of all the amazing new services available.   

By providing a SmartBox, similar to an Amazon Locker except exclusively for keys, fobs and keycards, 7-Eleven is enabling access to the sharing economy for their surrounding neighborhoods. From helping dog walkers to short stay hosts and visitors, the partnership between 7-Eleven and Keycafe ensures that a variety of communities have access to a key exchange service in a friendly location. Currently, the Keycafe program is available in 22 North American cities. You can currently find Keycafe these United States cities: Austin, Baltimore, Berkeley, Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, NYC, Oakland, Portland, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, St. Petersburg, Washington DC, and also in the Canadian cities of Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal and Victoria.

In 2019, 7-Eleven will continue to add more Keycafe SmartBoxes throughout North America, bringing the value of a secure key exchange service to more local residents. For the end-user picking up their keys, they benefit from a safe, warm and clean environment where they can also pick up needed convenience items such as dog treats, a cold drink, or a toothbrush.   

How does Keycafe work? By creating an account at www.keycafe.com, a new user will be able to register a key at any SmartBox location before giving someone else access to the key by email or text message. With the Keycafe mobile app, key-owners can add scheduled guests, change accesses to their keys and see a history of their key’s activity on the go. Similarly, guests picking up keys will be able to get precise directions to SmartBox locations, use features like one-touch pickup and have a direct line to Keycafe support from within the app.
