Keycafe continues to add SmartBox locations across Paris, with new security features like photo ID verification to make key exchange more secure.
Keycafe Continues to Expand Key Exchange Services Across Paris
The Keycafe service was launched in Paris during the Airbnb Open in November 2015, where Keycafe was announced as the first global Host Assist Partner. Keycafe has been continuously working to expand our services throughout the French capital. Our network of public Keycafe SmartBoxes allows home-owners, Airbnb hosts, and property managers a convenient way to securely exchange keys. As we continue to expand our SmartBox locations, we’re looking to ensure that everyone across Paris has easy access to a SmartBox near their home.
As the capital and most populous city of France, Paris is one of Europe’s major cities in regards to commerce, diplomacy, and art. With an estimated population of around 2.1 million residents and around 17.95 million tourists visiting tourists in 2018, it’s no surprise that Paris is the largest Airbnb market in the world. The city is home to some of the most recognisable landmarks in the world like the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame cathedral, and the Arc de Triomphe.
As Airbnb’s home sharing platform found great success in the French capital, other sharing economy startups have started cropping up and finding their own success in France. Drivy is a French car sharing company that was founded in 2010 and allows urban drivers to share and rent out their cars for hours or even days at a time. French startup NightSwapping, a homesharing service which allows users to earn “nightcredits” that they can spend on lodging was recently bought by and incorporated into the HomeExchange platform. If home and car sharing weren’t enough, the French company Mutum allows anyone to share almost anything with others, from bikes and construction tools to video game consoles and skiing equipment.
While Paris’ sharing economy is flourishing, managing access and exchanging keys was difficult to do before Keycafe’s arrival in the city. Keycafe offers Parisians the ability to automate access for their properties, letting them manage guest accesses into their property without having to be present. The Keycafe mobile app allows Parisians to give anyone access to their keys remotely, track their key’s pickups and drop-offs, and verify who’s accessing keys using Keycafe’s new Photo ID verification feature. With over 100 SmartBox locations across Paris, Keycafe makes key exchange more convenient and secure across the city.
If you live in Paris and don’t have access to a SmartBox near you, we’d like to know. Please visit our locations page and submit your address at the bottom so we know where to expand next.
