Originally founded as Buffalo Wild Wings & Weck (or BW-3), Buffalo Wild Wings has been the ultimate place for wings, beer, and sports since 1982. Started by two friends who had just moved to Ohio from Buffalo, New York, when Jim Disbrow and Scott Lowery couldn’t find any authentic Buffalo, New York-style chicken wings nearby they decided to make them in Ohio themselves. For those wondering what “weck” is (from the original name), weck is short for kimmelweck: a salted and seasoned Kaiser roll originally from Austria that became very popular in the city of Buffalo. Although Buffalo Wild Wings used to serve beef on weck in its early days, the New York native sandwich is no longer served with the restaurant officially changing its name to Buffalo Wild Wings Grill & Bar in 1998.

The restaurant’s menu has a variety of burgers, salads, and of course, wings. Buffalo Wild Wings has also donated more than $285,000 to provide 36 scholarships in order to help young adults accomplish their career aspirations.
