Moon Camp Airbnb Rental Hits the Housing Market
One of Airbnb’s most most popular listings is now on California’s housing market after some significant upgrades to the property. Titled as, Moon Camp: A Joshua Tree Retreat on its Airbnb listing, this home provides an off-the-grid retreat in the desert only minutes away from Joshua Tree National Park. Surrounded by Joshua Trees in Californian desert, the Moon Camp has been almost completely booked up since 2017 and boasts an impressive 5-star rating from its 246 reviews. While the home was initially purchased for $159,200 in 2017, after various improvements it’s now on the market at an asking price of $399,900.
Categorised as a dome house on Airbnb, the Moon Camp is a completely off-grid property, meaning that the home is entirely powered by solar panels and has water stored in concrete tanks on the property. Part of the property’s allure is its beautiful outdoor surroundings, and the Moon Camp makes the most of them with an outdoor hammock and an outdoor fire-pit with seating. Although you’d think that sitting outside by the fireplace is the best spot to see the stars, inside the main house guests have access to a telescope by the window in order to get the best possible view of the night sky.
While it’s off-the-grid in terms of energy and water requirements, the Moon Camp has all the modern technological amenities one would want. The house is equipped with wifi, air conditioning systems and heaters, and a 55″ TV with access to Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, and HBO streaming services. If you’re looking for more traditional forms of entertainment, you’ll also find various books about off-grid living and cooking, along with a set of classic board games in the main house. Guests also have access to a mini-gym which contains a weight rack, punching bag, and even an outdoor bike for them to use freely.
What makes the Moon Camp all the more impressive is that it can accommodate up to six guests in its two separate buildings. With a main house and a separate little guest house, the hosts have managed to fit in five beds and two bathrooms, making this Airbnb perfect for large families or groups of friends looking to enjoy the surrounding Joshua Trees. This being said, if the property is sold there’s a definite possibility that the Moon Camp won’t be listed on Airbnb anymore. While the Airbnb has been extremely lucrative for the current owners (netting them $65,000 last year), it wouldn’t be surprising if the new owners want to enjoy the Moon Camp for themselves.
